Transition and Post-Secondary Preparation (TAPP)

 

The Transition and Post-Secondary Preparation (TAPP) program is specifically designed for young adults with special needs, typically in grades 9-12+, with the primary goal of facilitating a successful transition to the next stage of independence. The TAPP program focuses on identifying and planning the essential skills necessary for students to thrive beyond graduation.

Central to the TAPP program are transition services that aim to equip students with the tools and knowledge needed for life after receiving their diploma. Through a combination of individualized and small group instruction, targeted support, and a focus on real-world applicability, the program aims to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their journey towards adulthood. These services address three main areas crucial for successful transition: post-secondary education and training, employment, and independent living, as appropriate.

Students being considered for the TAPP program must meet the following requirements:

• Eligible for special education and have a current IEP.
• The IEP team has determined the TAPP program is the appropriate setting to meet the students academic and post-secondary needs.

The TAPP program is available to a limited number of students in order to provide a supportive atmosphere focused on graduation. TAPP classroom hours are 9:15 am to 2:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
